Meditation is a unique skill that when learned becomes a way of life. Thoughts have a habit of randomly emerging out of nowhere causing all manner of mischief with either your actions or what you say. Meditation enables you to obtain single-pointed focus of the mind, putting you firmly in control. You have one mind and it's up to you to decide in what direction you want the mind to go.

Meditation Method
Look for opportunities to practice concentrating. This type of meditation does not need to be done in a quiet place in a seated position. You can practice concentrating while doing everyday activities, such as tying shoes, meditating on a phrase in a spiritual or religious book, feeling each footstep as you walk, or even trying to focus on a mantra in a noisy or crowded place.

Build up your power of concentration and you not only stay in control of the mind, you experience every moment with the mind fully engaged.
Meditation that improves your ability to concentrate draws you closer to your real self. You remain unfazed by disturbances around you and stay in a calm and peaceful state of mind.

Meditation leads to concentration and inevitably to the place within where you reside. Your mind gains a deeper understanding of who you are and desires only positive behavior and thoughts. Concentration becomes easier and meditation brings even more space within for jumbled up thoughts that arise of their own accord to be released for good and replaced with joy and love. That's a wonderful thing to meditate upon.
