Life in the Balance

Meditation is for everyone.

More research is being carried out annually on meditation, relaxation, and rhythmic breathing techniques showing that meditation is a sustained and clinically significant nonpharmacologic intervention for many diseases. Patients with AIDS, cancers, and heart conditions are now able to integrate meditation into their medical treatment.

In one study, The Support, Education, and Research in Chronic Heart Failure Study (SEARCH): A Mindfulness-Based Psychoeducational Intervention Improves Depression and Clinical Symptoms in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure researchers found that after only 8 weeks, the incidence of depression and anxiety in the patients was greatly reduced, plus their symptoms improved. Depression in patients with Chronic Heart Failure is a powerful predictor of morbidity and mortality and Meditation is a wonderful non-invasive approach.

In healthy people, meditation has a variety of uses; to promote inner peace, calmness, and even improve memory. With patients, the same benefits are achieved, but there is an additional bonus; symptoms of diseases are minimized as the mind and the body work together to stimulate the immune system.

Meditation enables the practitioner to maintain optimum health, while assisting other therapies and medicines by strengthening all the systems of the body.

It's more than a feel-good effect

A number of leisure pursuits and hobbies help us feel warm-and-fuzzy and relaxed. While meditation also promotes a feeling of well-being, it has clinically proven benefits that other activities such as watching a sunset, massage, or spending a day at a spa do not.

Meditation makes your mind calm and peaceful and by doing so, frees you from worrying. With regular practice, your mind will gradually experience freedom from anxiety and be able to stay calm, peaceful and content even in the most difficult circumstances.

The more familiar your mind becomes with meditation, the more peaceful it becomes and when your mind is peaceful you are free from all worries and mental discomfort.

Meditation is key to help keep you healthy and happy for a long time to come.
