Patanjali
Today I decided to post this wonderful quote.
I hope you find the words as meaningful as I do.
"When you are inspired by some great purpose,
some extraordinary project, your thoughts break their bonds:
Your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world.
Dormant forces, faculties and talents ... become alive,
you discover yourself to be a greater person by far
than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”

Please note that some websites incorrectly attribute the above quote to Patanjali who wrote the Yoga Sutras. Many thanks to the scholars who have provided up-to-date information regarding this error.
I have been struggling to find out which translation of Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, contains this quote?
ReplyDeletewill you plesae help me to know / This seems to me a different translation altogether.
regards
This quote is attributed to Patanjali and is not from the yoga sutras but from another of his writings.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I am looking for. If not from the Yoga sutras then from which of his works and which translation it appears?
ReplyDeleteI also saw it in book Wisdom of ages written by Wayne W. Dyer, but be does not mention the source from where he has taken it.
In case you may know it , I would request you to kindly tell me.
thanx
Using the textbook of Yoga Psychology by Ramamurti Mishra, the quotation appears to be a similar interpretation of aphorisms in chapters 2 and 3 related to concentration and consciousness.
ReplyDeleteIf you wish, you can contact Wayne Dyer and ask for clarification of the source.
If I find a better source for this passage then I will post it here.
Thank you for your question.
Thank you very much. I have already written to Wayne w Dyer also. I am waiting for the response.
ReplyDeletethanks once again
